Uitkyk was a farm 10 km south west of Middleburg, on the Pretoria/Komatiepoort railway line.
On 27 June 1901 Boer General Viljoen was observed on the vicinity and a British armoured train was sent to the area to investigate. The train was destroyed by explosives set off by the Boers.
