Allan Gordon
Allan Gordon is a registered tour guide who has a passionate interest in the battles of the South Africa African War, the Anglo-Zulu War and the First Boer War. Allan is a keen amateur historian and an accomplished and avid collector of military medals. Through his passion for medals, their history and their owners, Allan offers a unique, fascinating and interactive battlefield touring “experience-with-a-difference”.
Guests can examine and discuss the history of campaign medals they might have in their collection, awarded to British soldiers and Boer burghers who fought in actual battles visited.
Allan has recently retired from the Corporate world and is pursuing a passion related to battlefield history. Allan has been a medal collector for a number of years and is a keen enthusiast on the people behind the medals in his Anglo-Boer War collection.
Allan spent over 40 years in the IT Industry working for major corporations, ending up as the Hospitality Industry Executive for a large quoted company on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange.
He is also a successful sportsman having achieved National/Springbok colours for Lawn Bowls.
Allan intends adding a new dimension to anyone interested in tracing the whereabouts of family or friends who might have had an association with the Anglo-Boer Wars and the Anglo-Zulu War. Medal collectors and enthusiasts will be able to associate what they have in their collections with places where the recipients could well have been over 100 years ago.
