Christiaan de Wet died on 3 February 1922, aged 67.
He fought in the first Anglo-Boer War, 1880-1881 and was present at the Battle of Majuba.
In the South African War 1899-1902 he saw action, initially in Natal, before moving to the Northern Cape. Early in 1900 he was promoted to the rank of General. He was very prominent in the guerrilla phase of the war, and took an active part in the peace negotiations of 1902.
